First Day of School

Jonah started his first day (of his last year) of pre-school and is LOVING it. We decided to have him do an extra year and be the oldest in his class come elementry rather than the youngest. I spent a lot of time fretting, reading, talking to educators and moms and ultimately feel great about this decision and feel it will serve him well in his future.

Lulu has also started Pre-k in a special group considerate of children with disabilities. It is wonderful all around, GERMS are fought with a vengeance and all moms are considerate of illness and (not) bringing them to school. The range of disabilities varies with physical handicaps as well as developmental delays. I love London being in such an inclusive environment that fosters diversity and acceptance...and hopefully wont get her sick. It's a tender group and we feel lucky she can be a part of it.

I'm so grateful my children have the gift of education and wish every kid around the world had the same opportunities. I'm looking into a long-term monthly sponsorship of a child either in Haiti or Ethiopia and will share the information as we find it, for others interested. I think it will be a beautiful experience for our children to help send someone to school and understand what a privilege it is for them to attend school.

How did we have the luck...or whatever you want to call it, to be born in America? God Bless the USA.
