Ran into our FAVORITE Mayor @ City Hall. We love you Danny Boy!

We had such a fun week actively looking for and planning Random Acts of Kindness. This will definitely be a family tradition for us, always starting on Valentines Day. But, of course not limited to this week only. Jonah is now very fluent in what a RAK is...which makes me so happy. I just asked him what it means and he says "it's like picking up litter or taking pizza to kids in the hospital" he knows it's doing something nice, for no reason, looking for nothing in return other than a good feeling in his heart (he said eye--but I reminded him, heart).
We kicked off the week by taking Valentines and treats to some of our favorite oldies and widowed in our neighborhood.
Tuesday we took treats and drinks to our local firefighters and got lucky when they invited us back to look at the trucks, got hats and had a nice chat with Firefighter Greg. He went over and above to make Jonah feel special.
Wednesday we took pizzas to the surgical waiting room and the PICU waiting room for lunch. We spent many hours in both and know that something to chomp on can ease your nerves a little bit. I wondered who was there for what and remember that dreaded feeling of waiting to hear how surgery is going for your little one.
Thursday, Auntie MJ went with us to take DONUTS to Police at the Millcreek and Holladay Precincts. Again, Jonah got special treatment getting handcuffed, honorary badges and even police shield tattoos. Jonah kept asking to see bad guys in cages (we weren't at a jail mind you) and some guy walked down the hall and the Captain told him he was one of the bad guys...he went along with it and chased the white lie with a donut.
And today we are going to adopt a soldier:http://www.adoptaussoldier.org/ you should do it too. What a great way to teach our kids about civic duty and for what others are doing for us RIGHT NOW.
We wove other anonymous acts into the week which were very fun to do. It was a great week and another reminder that service is always the anecdote for any ailment and the importance of instilling kindness in my children at every opportunity.
Now go do something nice....
